AirWatch Mobile Device Management Now Available as a Software Appliance
Designed for Rapid Rollouts of Mobile Devices, this Self-contained Software Appliance is Pre-configured to a Customer’s Technical Specifications, Dramatically Reducing Deployment Time and Effort
ATLANTA – August 3, 2010 – AirWatch, a leading provider of enterprise-wide Mobile Device and WLAN Management (MDM) software, announces the availability of the AirWatch software appliance. By providing its mobile device management solution preloaded on a dedicated software appliance, AirWatch is now the only MDM provider offering three, flexible delivery options: software deployed behind the corporate firewall, Software as a Service (SaaS) and a software appliance, ensuring all IT environments have access to AirWatch’s industry-leading MDM functionality.
The AirWatch software is preloaded and preconfigured to a customer’s unique technical specifications, simplifying the software installation process and reducing the time and effort typically associated with such deployments. In addition to the AirWatch management console, the appliance comes pre-loaded with 100 AirWatch licenses for any type of mobile device, all required third-party software licenses and maintenance for the first year. Customers can easily add it to a pre-existing stack.
AirWatch differentiates its software appliance by not requiring customers to purchase additional device licenses in pre-defined bundled ‘packages’ of 50 or more device licenses. Instead, AirWatch allows customers to buy additional device licenses in the quantities they need, eliminating expenditures for unused licenses. In addition, if their enterprise mobility needs or priorities change, users of the AirWatch software appliance can easily transition to the company’s SaaS offering or its perpetual license offering.
“The addition of the AirWatch software appliance means all companies, regardless of their size, IT resources or devices used, now have access to industry-leading mobile device management functionality,” says John Marshall, AirWatch’s CEO. “This software appliance provides all the benefits of a robust MDM solution, but without the cost often associated with such solutions. For companies tracking and managing less than 2,000 devices, the AirWatch software appliance represents a robust, cost-effective and long-term solution.”
The AirWatch software appliance’s technical specification includes two available IP addresses, allowing both local network and/or Internet-facing access; configurable DNS addressing and port allocation for each integration with existing network infrastructure; simplified AirWatch-generated email alerts and configurable AirWatch maintenance utilities for database purging and backup. The appliance’s operating system is Windows Server 2008 Standard, and the database server is SQL Server Standard 2008.
