Beyond Mobile Device Management to Intelligent Device Management
AirWatch expands beyond mobile device management to include intelligent device management. This solution can efficiently and effectively track, monitor and manage any device on your network with a machine-readable interface—including printers, VoIP devices, medical equipment, postage meters and energy management devices like wireless thermostats or light switches. In fact, we commit to write the drivers to any mass-produced device that exists in your wired and wireless world.Examples of how Intelligent Device Management can improve productivity:
- Challenge
You have a large field service group equipped with mobile devices and wireless printers, which are used to print customer receipts. Your customer satisfaction suffers when your customer can't always get their receipts quickly, because the mobile printers are low on paper, ink or battery power. - Solution
AirWatch can constantly monitor the health of the mobile device and the associated printer. When the mobile printer identifies it is low on paper, ink, battery power; has a jam or any other issue, AirWatch can send a message to the worker's mobile device. To ensure the message is not missed, AirWatch can turn on the mobile device alert ringer (or phone ringer) and flash an error message on the screen until the employee replies to the prompt. This will allow the worker to charge the mobile device before the next route or address the issue before it affects customer service.
- Challenge
A hospital cannot always accurately track their wide variety of equipment. For example, do you know the whereabouts of the IV drip machines your nursing staff often store in a random closet? Additionally, the hospital has a whole host of medical and telemetery equipment whose location and usage they must track. Another concern is the stress placed on the hospital's WiFi network due to public wireless access for guests as well as VoIP for nurses and doctors. - Solution
AirWatch can work in conjunction with any 802.11 WiFi tag to identify the location of a mobile device. Secondly, AirWatch can have an interface into any network or wireless machine-readable device in the hospital to track location status, usage, remaining battery life, errors or service needs such as when oxygen bottles run low. Finally, AirWatch can monitor the entire wireless network, managing the various service levels, user security requirements, and safe and secure guest access across the entire hospital.
- Challenge
A major bowl game is scheduled to play and stadium management realizes their existing wireless network cannot manage the large number of reporters and media blogging live from the event, complete with large mixed media files. - Solution
AirWatch manages access and authorizations of the wireless network in addition to managing bandwidth allocations in a prioritized manner so that priorities are met and all users satisfied.
