Integrated Mobile Device and WLAN Management
Only AirWatch provides integrated management of both the access points and the attached devices, providing you with real-time views into and from within each mobile device and the access points that connect them. This integrated approach means you can better track, monitor and manage all aspects of your wireless environment, including your mobile users.Automated, No-Touch™ WEP/WPA Key Rotations
Security key rotations continue to be one of the biggest headaches of wireless security. This cumbersome and labor-intensive process requires IT personnel to perform the following:- Rotate new security keys
- Update the network infrastructure
- Update each mobile device, which is cumbersome if there are hundreds or even thousands of devices on the network.
- Before rendering the old security key obsolete, your team must manually track each device to ensure the entire fleet has been updated.
AirWatch streamlines this labor-intensive and inefficient process by setting up a security key rotation parameter, which automatically works at both the network and device level. With this integrated approach, you can coordinate the entire rotation process in a systematic and automatic manner. You also save hundreds of man hours, while also improving the security of your wireless network.
If the mobile device is not available—the system automatically checks the device on a consistant basis—AirWatch will automatically close off the rotation at a user-specified time and invalidate the old key in the network. In addition, AirWatch provides valuable inquiry screens related to the status of each incomplete rotation.
Improved Management of Orphaned Devices
AirWatch can also improve the management of ‘orphaned' mobile devices. Without a robust DMD solution, which can track the history of both the device and the security key, devices turned off, not connected or at the repair depot quickly become time-consuming exceptions to the key rotation process.AirWatch eliminates these labor-intensive exceptions by continuously scanning the network for any mobile device or AP with an outdated key. Once AirWatch locates an ‘orphaned' device or AP, the solution automatically performs the following:
- Reviews the device's history
- Identifies the old key
- Adds the old code temporarily into the network, only after the network administrator gives proper approvals
- Provisions the new key to the device
- Pulls the old key immediately from the network, which can happen either at the site where the device was used or where it will be used
AirWatch's management of orphaned devices results in significant labor savings, decreased downtime of your devices and better overall management of your mobile devices and the wireless infrastructure.
