AirWatch Opens Australian Headquarters
Australia and New Zealand’s Growing Demand for Enterprise-grade Mobile Device Management Is a Major Driver in AirWatch’s Global Expansion
ATLANTA – February 8, 2011 - AirWatch, a leading provider of enterprise-grade Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, announces the opening of its Melbourne headquarters to meet the growing demand for its web-based MDM solution in the Australian and New Zealand markets. AirWatch’s global customer base already numbers more than 1,000, with these customers’ heterogeneous device fleets ranging from 50 to more than 500,000 devices. Available on-premise, as a software appliance or software as a service (SaaS), AirWatch is accessible to all enterprises, regardless of IT infrastructure or resources. The solution is designed to secure, monitor, manage and support all types of mobile devices, and provides a single, integrated, real-time view of an organization’s entire fleet of Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Symbian mobile devices.
AirWatch has appointed Rob Roe to serve as managing director for the Australian and New Zealand markets, overseeing the company’s in-country business development, professional services and marketing efforts. A 30-year veteran in the telecom, mobility and technology industries, Roe spent nine years with Telstra, where he most recently served as director of product and service marketing, responsible for voice, data, mobiles, unified communications, contact centers, managed services and professional services. Prior to his tenure at Telstra, Roe served for three years as Gartner Group’s senior vice president, marketing. He also has 13 years at IBM, serving in a variety of senior executive roles, including director of the company’s ERP Solutions Asia Pacific.
“AirWatch’s singular focus on solving the challenges of enterprise mobility truly sets them apart from the competition. The solution is highly flexible and easy to use. No other MDM solution even comes close. Their growing leadership position in the global MDM marketplace is impressive, and I am excited to be part of their success,” said Rob Roe, AirWatch’s managing director, Australia and New Zealand.
“We are excited to formalize our presence in the Australian and New Zealand markets, and thrilled to have someone of Rob’s caliber leading the charge,” says John Marshall, AirWatch’s CEO. “Mobility deployments can feel like ‘death by a thousand cuts,’ with each device needing to be configured, tracked and secured; software provisioned; and users supported. AirWatch simplifies these processes by managing all device brands and mobile operating systems from a single, web-based console. Our goal is to abstract the device from the configuration profiles and allow heterogeneous populations of mobile devices to be easily supported.”
“This region is an important market for mobile device management as IDC has seen strong smartphone growth from Apple and Android-based devices here,”said IDC analyst, Stephen Drake, Program Vice President, Mobility and Telecom. “In addition, this region is a viable play for enterprise mobility where organizations are receptive to a SaaS-based delivery model for key mobile deployments.”
AirWatch’s comprehensive MDM functionality accelerates and secures mobile device deployments with advanced certificate and PKI integration. The solution has the ability to instantly configure certificates, policies, settings and access to enterprise accounts—including Exchange ActiveSync, Wi-Fi, VPN, CA, LDAP and more—over the air. AirWatch also protects personal and corporate data and the entire device through encryption and passcode policies. AirWatch’s Enterprise App Catalog allows console users to manage and deploy their internal apps as well as highlight recommended apps to specific users or groups of users. In addition to streamlining and automating mobile asset tracking and management, AirWatch can also set up alerts and automated business rules for specific device or network actions, user actions or system performance.
