Support for Mac OS X El Capitan

With AirWatch, you can take advantage of the latest mobile innovations and enterprise mobility management capabilities available for Mac OS. With the release of El Capitan, AirWatch customers can push new profiles and restrictions for iCloud backups and Spotlight suggestions. With support for device-based license assignments through the Volume Purchase Program (VPP), users don’t have to use their Apple ID to install apps. Device Enrollment Program expansion means it's available in more countries, and IT can now automatically create a default admin account that is hidden from the user during setup and gives users access to a standard account only. Configuration Management

AirWatch configuration eliminates the need for laptop imaging and provides a seamless out-of-the-box experience for employees. With AirWatch, IT administrators can stage products on behalf of the end user to setup corporate networks, security policies, applications and email accounts. Deploy the same configuration in bulk to devices, create a dynamic configuration based on directory service and domain memberships, and update any configuration over-the-air. Create profiles to provision security policies, access to corporate accounts, manage certificates and configure laptop settings. Set passcode and encryption requirements, configure Wi-Fi and Ethernet adapters, manage native mail and Outlook accounts, configure network printers, prevent software updates and customize user experiences with dock and wallpaper settings. Profiles can be time-based and configured to deploy automatically or on-demand.

Software Distribution

AirWatch allows enterprises to provision custom products to distribute apps, create and modify files, run scripts and perform commands. Configure software update source, execute remote scripts and complex packages and manage VMware Fusion enterprise license keys. Products can be configured to deploy automatically during enrollment or on-demand. Set packages to install based on conditions, including network status or defined schedules, and deploy software updates automatically and notify the user when updates occur.

Upload and deploy enterprise applications to laptops with defined app descriptions, images and categories in the AirWatch® Catalog. Distribute applications using dynamic smart groups, and remove applications if a user unenrolls their device. Integrate with the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) for managed app distribution.

Asset Tracking

The admin console allows you to view all enrolled Mac devices in the enterprise in real-time through interactive dashboards. Because AirWatch is multitenant, you can manage devices across geographies, business units or other segmentations in a single console, and define administrators and delegate management aligned to your corporate structure with role-based access controls. Monitor detailed device information including computer name, UDID, serial number, GPS location, OS version, physical memory, battery status, MAC addresses, installed profiles and packages, and more. View information about the end user such as username, device ownership, Terms of Use acceptance, email address, phone number and department. View event logs in the console for system monitoring and export them as reports. Integrate with AppleCare to request details like warranty status, purchase country and purchase date.

Remote Assistance

Enable over-the-air management, commands and monitoring for Macs. From the admin console, you can manage devices by querying for device details, performing a firmware level device lock and prompting users to enter a password or PIN. If a device is compromised, revoke access to corporate resources and perform an enterprise or full device wipe.

Endpoint Protection

Our multilayer approach to endpoint protection ensures Macs remain secure in your environment. Require end users to set a device passcode and configure certificate authentication for an added layer of security. Configure restrictions to prevent user actions on the device, including access to applications, system preferences, the App Store and device sharing. Full disk encryption ensures your corporate data is secure. The AirWatch compliance engine monitors your device fleet for non-compliance. Streamlined Enrollment

AirWatch offers a simple, Agent-based enrollment process for Mac users that is consistent with mobile device enrollment. Users must be authenticated and Macs must meet enrollment requirements to ensure your corporate security prerequisites are met. Once enrolled, the settings, applications and restrictions you provisioned deploy to Macs automatically. AirWatch also offers support for the Device Enrollment Program (DEP) for Mac devices. If you allow bring your own laptops (BYOL), ensure end user privacy is protected by tracking and managing only corporate data — not the entire device —and not collecting any personal information. Allows users to share devices with multiuser support.

AirWatch Apps

AirWatch has developed several applications to enhance productivity and enablement for Mac users, including the AirWatch® Agent and AirWatch® Catalog. Deploy an enterprise app catalog to enable users to view, browse, search for and install public, internal, recommended and web applications. The web-based catalog is unified across device types, making it easy for users to get the apps they need on all of their devices.

Secure Content Collaboration

To enable secure content collaboration between devices, users can share content through personal folders in the self-service portal from their Mac. These folders are synched with and can be accessed through the AirWatch® Content Locker application on the user’s smartphone or tablet. The desktop client, AirWatch® Content Locker Sync, allows users to drag and drop files directly from their Mac into the application, ensuring they have the most up-to-date version of content on all their devices.

End User Self-Service

Users can resolve common Mac issues through the AirWatch self-service portal—reducing the burden on IT. Users can view details of all their enrolled devices, such as encryption status, installed profiles and apps, and compliance status. Because the self-service portal is browser-based, users can access this information, as well as send commands to devices such as clear passcode and wipe a device, even if their laptop is out of reach. Finally, if IT assistance is needed, end users can contact support directly from the self-service portal.
